Tones on the Stones 2016
Music in the quarries of the Ossola Valley

From 23 to 30 July the quarries of the VCO province transform into a stage when the festival Tones on the Stones 2016 returns for its 10th edition. This year it will take place in the striking setting of the Trontano gneiss quarry.
To kick off the festival on 23 July is the show Intra Montes;
Laic song for instruments and choir with Ramberto Ciammarughi on piano, Tetraktis Percussions, Ensemble Nova Musica and the Choir of Tones on the Stones. The show starts at 9.30 p.m..
Carmina Burana by Carl Orff directed by Massimo Fiocchi Malaspina with the choir Stendahl, two pianos and five percussionists.
The festival continues in the 28 July with the Giacomo Puccini’s opera production Turandot. In the directors seat is Stefano Monti and conductor Stefano Giarloli with the Orchestra delle Terre Verdiane and the Corale Lirica Ambrosiana. The show will be enhanced by an animated backdrop of video and lights as well as the vertical dance performance of the group Cafelulé.
The evening of the 29 July is dedicated to modern music and the digital arts. NeXTones returns this year with emotional, moving and danceable performances accompanied by the newest in audiovisual technology.
The last evening, 30 July, it’s time for Tones on the Screens cap. II; a tribute to American cinema and to the great composers Danny Elfman, Enrico Morricone, John Williams and Hans Zimmer. The task of interpreting the legendary sountracks has been assigned to the Lviv Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra from Ucrain. Also this evening in the company of the vertical dance of Cafelulé illuminated by the video and light show.
Parallell to the festival, like last year, there will be the Food Carousel; a culinary festival dedicated to Street Food. Adjacent to the stage area the will be a small “village” with free entance fo those who want to have a taste of local cuisine in a unique setting.
