Snowshoe Race in Alpe Devero
After the cancellation of last year’s race due to heavy snowfall, “La Traccia Bianca” organized byCAI Pallanza returns to Alpe Devero.
The 10th edition of the beloved snowshoe race , which in 2013 became the third in Italy with 1350 participants, will take place on Sunday the 1st of March. The path, a ring of 8 km with a 250 meter rise, starts on the flat of Devero and runs across the spectacular scenery of the Natural Park Veglia-Devero in the eastern part of the Lepontine Alps. The racers will pass through the characteristic village of Crampiolo reaching the Codelago dam where the highlight of the race awaits: crossing the frozen lake. It all ends at the finish line back on the flat of the Devero creek.
The new addition this year is the pack of 8 magnificent sleddogs from the Centro Sleddog Sestriere who accompanied by their musher will open the event marking the path for the other participants. For those who prefer spending the day without snowshoes it will be possible to browse through the stalls of the Centro Aiuti per l’Etiopia and food and beverage partners like the restaurant La Rampolina of Campino di Stresa.
Registrations to participate in the race are made Saturday 28th of February from 3.30 p.m. until 5.30 p.m. and Sunday 1st of March from 8.30 a.m. until 9.30 p.m. at the Albergo Cervandone in Alpe Devero. Hurry up because the places are limited!
