INTRA – “Enjoy Sicily: typical products and handicraft from Sicily!
From 28 April to 1 May, the lakeside of Intra will breathe the air of Sicily!
“Sicilia Viva in festa” is a festival dedicated to Sicilian food and crafts.
Ceramics, puppets, which tell the adventures and mad love of ancient knights like Orlando, showing the ancient Sicilian carriages all decorated and hand-painted.
This and more will be the highlights of a unique event, full of colors and flavors.
On Monday, 1st of May, from 4 p.m., do not miss the songs and dances of the folkloristic show of the “Sicilia Nostra” group.
“Serate di Gola” from 22nd April
“Serate di Gola”, local flavors and the artisanal wisdom will be on your plate during these itinerant dinners: beginning on 22 April, the event dedicated to local producers and typical restaurants will take you on a gastronomic journey through the mountains and valleys of Ossola!
Every dinner will be an occasion to get in touch with local producers. The menus will contain scents and flavors of the artisanal and authentic production: the producers will illustrate their own experiences and peculiarities of the products of “Serate di Gola”.
Each location of these six dinners will be very different from the other: from the agritourism facing the lake to the hut in the high mountains. Possibility to stay over in quaint hotels or B&B’s rich in charm and atmosphere.

Culture and Gastronomy in the Ossola Valley

The mushroom festival “Sagra del Fungo” is held every year in the characteristic village of Trontano in the Ossola Valley. This year it’s back for its 32nd edition with a program which is just as tasty as it is culturally interesting.
Friday 16th September the charity stand opens at 6 p.m. and at 7 p.m. dinner is served. The specials of the evening are mushroom risotto and traditional boiled meats. After dinner there is dancing with the band Bolle di Sapone and DJ Andy.
Saturday 17th September the gates open for lunch with mushroom-themed specialities. Music in the quarries of the Ossola Valley

From 23 to 30 July the quarries of the VCO province transform into a stage when the festival Tones on the Stones 2016 returns for its 10th edition. This year it will take place in the striking setting of the Trontano gneiss quarry.
To kick off the festival on 23 July is the show Intra Montes;
Laic song for instruments and choir with Ramberto Ciammarughi on piano, Tetraktis Percussions, Ensemble Nova Musica and the Choir of Tones on the Stones. The show starts at 9.30 p.m..
Carmina Burana by Carl Orff directed by Massimo Fiocchi Malaspina with the choir Stendahl, two pianos and five percussionists.

Stresa with a touch of Gorgonzola

Another appointment with the initiative “Stresa nel Gusto”, this time with the taste of Gorgonzola. The town’s bars and restaurants will propose dishes and menus enriched with the unmistakable cheese. The old town will be decorated for the occasion with stands and counters where it will be possible to purchase the famous dairy product and its pairings.
From 11 a.m., in Piazza Cadorna, the Gruppo Protezione Civile Città di Stresa will prepare “polenta concia”(polenta with melted cheese) and polenta with gorgonzola to warm up and satisfy hungry passers-by.

Chocolate Festival on Lake Mergozzo

The Piazza Cavour in the charming town of Mergozzo on the northern shore of the lake with the same name will flow with chocolate for the festival “Cioccolago”! Saturday 24th of October from 4 p.m. the Master Chocolatiers will show off their skills and with the purchase of the bracelet (2 Euros) you will have the possibility to have a taste of the masterpieces. For the holders of the bracelet the Association of Pastry Chefs VCO will offer the aperitif. At 5 p.m. it’s time for the arrival of the chocolate boat realised by the same organisation. Celebrating the pumpkin in Santa Maria Maggiore
17th and 18th of October
The weekend of the 17th and 18th of October the village of Santa Maria Maggiore dresses up in autumn clothing for the Pumpkin Festival 2015. The much awaited event includes tastings, live music, children’s workshops and themed menus in the local restaurants.
The enchanting village is ready to be discovered with exhibitions and decorations in honor the most colourful vegetable of the season. Saturday 18th it’s once again time for the “Conciorto” : an extraordinary concert performed with vegetables transformed into original musical instruments by Biagio Bagini e Gianluigi Carlone.

In Albareto in the province of Parma the 20th edition of the National Porcini Mushroom Fair will take place. From the 11th to the 13th of September this town, immersed in the green hills of the Appennines will come alive with theme exhibitions, tastings, entertainment and amusement park. The Fair is affiliated with the White Truffle Fair in Alba.
The Fair opens at 6 p.m. on Friday 11th with a speach of the President of the Fair and the “special guest” Veronica Ruggeri from the TV programme “Le Iene”. Afterwards the food stalls inside Pavillion A are opened, in the “Palafungo” there will be a “Drink with Porcino” and in Pavillion B, meeting with the “Hyena” Veronica Ruggeri and live music with the band Radiazioni Rock.
